Funded by the Federal Government and the Länder, acatech – National Academy of Science and Engineering is the voice of the technological sciences at home and abroad. acatech provides advice on strategic engineering and technology policy issues to policymakers and the public and fulfilling a mandate to provide independent, evidence-based advice that is in the public interest under the patronage of the Federal President. acatech has extensive experience in initiating data space initiatives at national level and in coordinating major stakeholder platforms, including the National Platform for the Future of Mobility and the National AI Platform.

In deployEMDS, acatech takes on the role of the consortium coordination, drawing on its expertise gained from leading the 12-month preparatory project, PrepDSpace4Mobility. In this pivotal position, acatech ensure the seamless operation and efficient management of the project. acatech coordinates decision-making processes, fosters streamlined communication within the consortium, and acts as a key intermediary between the consortium and the European Commission.

The Local Public Transport Agency of the Metropolitan City of Milan, Monza and Brianza, Lodi and Pavia is a non-economic public body that has the task of planning, regulating and controlling local public transport, and the relative quality standards of the services offered.

In deployEMDS, AgeTPL will work in partnership with AMAT and CEFRIEL on the Milan implementation site, whose target is to develop a decision support system to enhance and streamline the tasks of the Agency’s planners and data analysts.

AMAT (Agency for Mobility Environment and Territory) is a consulting agency owned by the City of Milan, specialised in urban mobility and environmental planning. It supports the city in areas including mobility planning, energy efficiency, waste management, and water resources. In addition, AMAT has experience in managing R&D projects on sustainable mobility and energy efficiency also under European programs.

In the deployEMDS, AMAT will develop, in partnership with CEFRIEL and AgeTPL, a use case focused on modeling future mobility scenarios that aim to achieve carbon neutrality by leveraging the opportunities that come from fully-developed Mobility as a Service (MaaS). An interactive exhibition will be created to present and gather feedback on these MaaS-based future mobility scenarios.

The Autoritat del Transport Metropolità (Metropolitan Transport Authority or ATM)
is a voluntary inter-administrative consortium set up in 1997, which all
administrations can join that own collective public transport services,
individually or via groups or bodies that represent them, which belong to the
area comprising the counties of Alt Penedès, Anoia, Bages, Baix Llobregat,
Barcelonès, Berguedà, Garraf, Maresme, Moianès, Osona, Vallès Occidental and
Vallès Oriental.

BKK – As the integrated mobility manager of Budapest, we are responsible for mobility in Budapest, including among others the operation and development of public transport, and the development and implementation of the mobility plan (SUMP). BKK is a public service company 100% owned by the capital, but it is much more than that: it is a community of around 1,500 people who are fully committed to their challenging work.

In deployEMDS, with the technical support of UiH, we will expand the current route planning system into a multimodal system by linking data from different sharing transport operators and other service providers with the BudapestGO of the public transport system of Budapest

Cefriel is a not-for-profit digital innovation center, founded in 1988 by the Polytechnic University of Milan to help the country’s businesses, society, and economy grow and develop by using and expanding skills and knowledge in the field of technologies and digital services. Its mission is to make digital innovation to benefit the country, organically combining research, innovation, and training, as well as leveraging the skills and knowledge from the world of research, companies, and the public administration.

Cefriel will coordinate the implementation project in Milan in cooperation with AMAT and Agenzia TPL through (i) the collection of requirements from the operational and technical governance perspective, and (ii) the deployment of the common European mobility data space building blocks in test and production environments. The data will be made available through the European mobility data space components for two interlinked use cases: (i) the definition of a decision support system to optimize the entire mobility network consisting of the provinces of Pavia, Lodi, Monza-Brianza and the Metropolitan City of Milan, through the integration of multiple data sources; (ii) the creation of future mobility scenarios exposing citizens to innovative planning methods via an interactive exhibition, collecting their feedback digitally to gather support for a sustainable mobility transition. Moreover, Cefriel will be involved (i) in the development of cross-cutting building blocks applicable to all local implementation projects, and (ii) in the communication and dissemination of the project’s results.

EMEL (municipal company for mobility and parking of Lisbon) is the operating arm of the Lisbon city council for mobility management. Their mission is to support the city council in the development, management, and operation of urban mobility solutions to encourage more sustainable mobility choices.
As an agent of change, EMEL participate in multiple collaborative and innovation projects to actively contribute to knowledge generation processes, as well as to create spaces for experimentation that are essential for the development of solutions that might help prepare the city for the mobility of the future.

In deployEMDS, EMEL will lead the implementation of Lisbon use cases. Particularly, EMEL aims at untapping data to enable better decision-making processes in the city and provide more reliable information to improve journeys of people with reduced mobility. Furthermore, EMEL will pilot a corporate MaaS solution to encourage more sustainable and less car-dependent mobility in commuting and business travel in Lisbon. From a technology standpoint, the purpose is to enable a backbone that will foster an interoperable, non-discriminatory multi-agent MaaS operator ecosystem.

EMTA (European Metropolitan Transport Authorities) is an association of 34 public transport authorities across 21 European countries. Together, EMTA members work to improve the daily mobility solutions offered to more than 100 million Europeans. They are responsible for organising safe, smart, sustainable and healthy mobility options in their respective areas. EMTA serves as the voice of public transport authorities towards European policymakers and as a forum to exchange experience and best practices in planning, integrating and funding public transport services at the metropolitan level.

EMTA is responsible for Work Package 4 of the deployEMDS project, which contains the overall deployment of the common European data space for mobility through real-life implementation projects in nine different cities and regions across Europe. To this end, EMTA coordinates the strategic alignment and collaboration process across work packages and the local implementation projects to ensure harmonised, pan-European development and deployment.

enRoute brings data leadership to its customers: Public Transit Agencies, Transport operators, MaaS platforms, NAPs,…

enRoute develops and operates two SaaS platforms for mobility data management: Chouette SaaS, for schedule and equipment datasets (GTFS / NeTEx), Ara SaaS, for real time data flows (GTFS-RT / SIRI). With Chouette SaaS and Ara SaaS, Public Transit Agencies and Transport Operators:

Ensure that transit riders receive high-quality trip-planning information,
Stream high quality mobility data to journey planners, mobile applications, or open data portals,
Aggregate the data for a large territory with several PTOs and create unified schedule datasets and real-time data streams,
Automate their mobility data management process,
Meet regulatory deadlines

In deployEMDS, enRoute will implement the connector for the opendata provided by Ile-de-France Mobilités and other data providers onto the mobility data space. Also it will facilitate data integration into the mobility data space and provide tools for data quality management.

EONA-X is a dataspace for Mobility, Transport & Tourism, and a Gaia-X lighthouse project, compliant with its principles. EONA-X is a non-profit organization whose members are : Amadeus, Renault Group, Groupe ADP, Air-France KLM, Aéroport Marseille-Provence, Eccocar, AnySolution, Apidae Tourisme, Inria, Compagnie des Alpes, Accor, Alentour… with a growing ecosystem. EONA-X has chosen Amadeus as its technical platform provider to supply, maintain and operate the technical components necessary for the operation of the data-exchange platform for EONA-X members. As an example of the first 18 use-cases being implemented, several EONA-X members and official partners of the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games 2024 will use the EONA-X dataspace to exchange information to seamlessly welcome delegations during this large event.

In the deployEMDS, EONA-X, as an operational data space will be sharing its experience in WP2 on a technical perspective. In WP4 EONA-X will be implementing a use-case in the île de France region, with partners such as enRoute and Instant System. This use case will focus on enriching the number and types of information received by a MaaS application used by large companies for the daily commute of their employees. The challenge of this use case will be to unlock data which today is not shared or scattered between numerous data providers so as to complete some existing open data sources. In time, EONA-X can provide the European Mobility Data Space with its federated catalog, enabling multiple uses of these datasets and ensuring a better discoverability.

ERTICO – ITS Europe is a public-private partnership of more than 120 companies and organisations representing service providers, suppliers, the traffic and transport industry, research, public authorities, user organisations, mobile network operators, and vehicle manufactures. ERTICO embodies thought leadership and fosters stakeholder engagement. Together with its partners, ERTICO develops, promotes and deploys Intelligent Transport Systems and Services (ITS) through a variety of activities, including European co-funded projects, innovation platforms, international cooperation, advocacy and events. ERTICO is the organiser of the annual ITS regional and global Congress in Europe. ERTICO work focuses on Connected, Cooperative & Automated Mobility, Urban Mobility, Clean & Eco-Mobility, and Transport & Logistics. ERTICO’s final goal is to create safer, smarter and cleaner transport services and networks for the benefit of all.

In deployEMDS, ERTICO will lead Communication, Dissemination, Exploitation and Stakeholder Engagement activities to promote the project and share results with the general public, disseminating results to key decision makers, stakeholders and relevant expert circles, and inform the European Commission and other decision-makers about the project’s progress and outcomes. ERTICO leads the Innovation and Scaling Group and coordinates its activities.

Eurecat is the main Research & Technology Organisation in Catalonia and the second largest private research organization in southern Europe. It brings together the experience of more than 750 professionals who generate an annual turnover of 62 million euros and provides services to more than 2,000 companies. Eurecat integrates advanced digital capabilities and experience in biotechnology, industry and sustainability and collaborates with industry in R+D+I activities and projects, offering advanced scientific and technological services and specialized knowledge to respond effectively to the technological needs of very different business sectors, accelerating innovation, reducing both risks and spendings on scientific and technological infrastructures. The technology center participates in more than 200 large national and international consortium projects of high strategic R&I, has 200 patents and 10 spin-offs. Eurecat has eleven centers in Catalonia and presence in Madrid and Malaga. In 2020, it began its presence in Latin America through the opening of a commercial office in Chile, which culminated in the constitution of the Eurecat Latam Technology Center Foundation in November 2022.

In deployEMDS, Eurecat will lead the traffic use case of the Barcelona pilot and will contribute to the deployment of the common architecture as an implementation partner and data solution provider.

Factual is an international boutique consulting firm specialised in mobility. Factual offer a unique combination of strategic foresight consultancy, international cooperation through R&D projects, in-house incubation and piloting of new, disruptive mobility concepts. Factual’s expertise extends to strategic consulting, technology assessment, market analysis, and project management, all specialised for the rapidly evolving mobility sector. With these services, Factual’s clients can confidently navigate the dynamic landscape, seize emerging opportunities, and effectively address industry challenges. In the last 4 years Factual have been partners in 31 international R&D, multi-stakeholder projects advancing the state-of-the-art on a broad range of mobility-related topics -including MaaS-like offerings and new business models, data-driven mobility planning and management, CCAM, sustainable urban logistics strategies, Low Emission Zones, electric Bus Rapid Transit and other innovative public transport offerings, road safety, fostering cycling, etc.- spanning across more than 30 countries and more than 50 cities.

In deployEMDS, Factual will be leveraging its market expertise in mobility data spaces to explore transversal use cases across the various deployment pilots and coordinate the delivery of a comprehensive training programme related to the common European data space.

At the institute’s sites in Dresden, Ingolstadt and Berlin, researchers of the Fraunhofer Institute for Transportation and Infrastructure Systems IVI are developing technologies and concepts for mobility, energy, as well as safety and security – from forward-looking preliminary research to practical applications in everyday use. The institute collaborates closely with the universities TU Dresden, TU Bergakademie Freiberg and Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt. Its transport-related research work ranges from the field of vehicle and propulsion systems to intelligent transport systems, and it also covers the areas of disposition, logistics and digital business processes.

For more than 20 years, Fraunhofer IVI has been developing innovations for the intelligent planning, coordination and management of mobility, shaping the digital transformation of public transport with reliable information and assistance systems, platform solutions for mobility data and services as well as electronic ticketing.

Projects investigating autonomous systems are gaining in importance, especially in heavy goods transport and agriculture. The Fraunhofer Application Center »Connected Mobility and Infrastructure« at TH Ingolstadt was established in 2019. Currently in its start-up phase, the new structural unit focuses on topics of automated and cooperative driving. Besides innovative charging technologies, research and development work in the field of electromobility includes, for instance, solutions for remote battery diagnosis.

In the light of future technological and societal changes, special attention is devoted to security-related topics, covering aspects of civil hazard prevention, the functional safety of vehicle technologies, and developments in the fields of vehicle and road safety as well as accident research. Since 2021, the institute has also been involved in the newly founded Fraunhofer Center for the Security of Socio-Technical Systems (Fraunhofer SIRIOS) in Berlin.

In addition to high-performance laboratories, innovative test platforms and vehicles as well as modern hardware and software, the Fraunhofer IVI’s research infrastructure includes a technical center with a vehicle hall and an adjacent test track.

Fintraffic provides and develops traffic control and management services in all traffic forms as well as ensure safe and smooth traffic in a responsible manner.

Fintraffic’s services support the mobility of citizens, the needs and transports of commerce, the operations of safety authorities as well as Finland’s competitiveness and well-being. Fintraffic collects, administers and opens data and creates opportunities for the new business that is created in the market.

Fintraffic provides and develops advanced new services and contributes to the growth of traffic ecosystems. Fintraffic is a special assignment group operating under the ownership steering of the Ministry of Transport and Communications.

FIWARE was created with the ultimate goal of creating an open sustainable ecosystem around public, royalty-free and implementation-driven software platform standards easing the development of smart solutions and supporting organizations in their transition into smart organizations. From a technical perspective, FIWARE brings a curated framework of Open-Source software components which can be assembled and combined with other third-party platform components to build platforms easing the development of smart solutions and smart organizations in multiple application domains: cities, manufacturing, utilities, agrifood, etc.

In deployEMDS, FIWARE is caretaker and contributor of its core data space building blocks in WP2: NGSI-LD, Smart Data Models, CEF Context Broker and the FIWARE Data Space Connector. FIWARE will provide its extended data space architecture and technology knowledge coming out of being an early active member of initiatives like DSBA, DSSC, IDSA and Gaia-X.

FRCB are simply the initials of Ferdinand Burgersdijk MBA, an independent who made it his business to navigate leaders in the mobility industry through the challenges of digital transformation. Contributing to international platforms like UITP, STA (Smart Ticketing Alliance), MaaS Alliance, International Transport Forum; leading (inter) national projects on MaaS, cross border multimodal ticketing and trusted data sharing; liaising leading organisations like NAPcore, IT4PT, DSSC, IDSA, MyData, iShare, EMTA and POLIS in the European data space for mobility, make his legal, technical and organisational expertise in combination with his vast international network simply unique. His experience allows to him to get to heart of the matter, swiftly. Providing objective insights, identifying blind spots and thinking out-of-the box. Not being tied to any company’s history or internal politics, he brings a fresh and unbiased perspective. Devising a strategy tailored to their goals, with respect for the organisation’s place and role in the ecosystem, the level of digital maturity and its culture.

Within deployEMDS, Ferdinand will align the regional use cases with the technical building blocks in WP2 and WP4. Enhancing trusted collaborations establishing an open architecture catering to data governance and user privacy, building forth on common European projects and aligning with business and IT strategies by transport operators and authorities.

The pinnacle of data governance is found in user privacy by default. Combining legal and technical aspects, its mission is to ensure a level playing field. By giving full control over data and identity back to the citizen through an independent data infrastructure, ‘fairsfair.org’, represents all that. Under this label the decentralised ‘transaction broker’ service for trusted data sharing allows multiple organisations to collaborate on value adding services offered to natural persons and amongst legal entities building forth on identification and authorisation management (iShare.eu). Its compliance with the European values, the data strategy and its supporting regulation, a.o. GDPR and DGA, fills a niche in the data spaces reference architecture. Referral to fairsfair.org certified decentralised transaction brokers in tenders enables authorities to ensure their citizens with full control over data and identity, and assuring a level playing field for market actors, pro-actively.

Within the deployment call fairsfair.org will share its expertise on compliance and interoperability between the different ticketing- and MaaS-schemes to ensure a seamless, multimodal and cross-border travel experience for passengers, with respect to their data and digital identity. Catering to user privacy by default.

The i2CAT Foundation is a public, non-profit research and innovation centre based in Barcelona which specializes in advanced digital technologies. Since 2003, i2CAT has been committed to designing and building the future digital society by leveraging the knowledge gained from cutting-edge European and local R&D projects in the fields of 5G/6G, IoT, immersive and interactive technologies, cybersecurity, data infrastructure, artificial intelligence, blockchain, space communications and digital society technologies. The centre partners with companies, public administration, academia, and end-users to leverage this knowledge to meet real social and business challenges. In the European data space ecosystem, i2CAT is an active partner in the International Data Space Assocation (IDSA), Big Data Value Association (BDVA) and Gaia-X AISBL. In Spain, i2CAT was one of several organisations that helped construct the Gaia-X Spanish Hub, and since then has been active in the Mobility working group.

In deployEMDS, i2CAT brings its data space architectural expertise to contribute to the design and development of the common decentralised infrastructure of the project, as well as take on the role of coordinator and implementation partner of the Barcelona pilot deployment site and its use cases.

Imec is a leading research hub for nano- and digital technology innovation, impacting quality of life through partnerships with industry, government, and academia. Imec employs over 5,500 scientists from 96 countries, and collaborates with 600+ industry partners and an academic network. Its research spans semiconductor industry roadmaps, technology for healthcare, mobility, and sustainable solutions. Imec’s headquarters are in Leuven, Belgium, with global offices and research sites.

In deployEMDS, imec is responsible for the data space architecture. Imec’s extensive expertise in data space projects in various domains will be leveraged to develop the European Mobility Data Space. Its responsibility includes gathering requirements from local pilots and translating these into a functional architecture, a task aligned with our past experiences. Additionally, imec oversees the Flemish pilot, further strengthening the existing collaboration with the Flemish government. This initiative underscores imec commitment to shaping the future of data spaces in Europe.

Created in 2013, Instant System provides Mobility as a Service (MaaS) solutions in white label to more than 80 local authorities and public transport operators. The solution includes:

a multimodal/intermodal real-time and predictive journey planner and passenger information, allowing the reservation, payment and ticketing/unlocking of all transport modes (from public transport to active mobilities, through car sharing/pooling and on-demand transport), from one single place, on any device (iOS, Android, or web).
a mobility policy management tool to enable cities to communicate with users, analyse mobility flow, create incentives through mobility packages mixing several transport modes.

From 2022, Instant System also offers a MaaS solution for companies (Emy), enabling employers to implement their sustainable mobility policies. This solution will be tested and improved with new relevant data, in the frame of the deployEMDS usecase Ile de France, which Instant System is leading in partnership with EONA-X and EnRoute, to tackle employers’ challenges regarding commuting mobility.

IONOS is the leading European digitalisation partner for small and medium-sized businesses (SMB). In deployEMDS, IONOS will bring its cloud (https://cloud.ionos.de) to the work in the project, defining as background the following: IONOS cloud infrastructure for storage and compute, 100% GDPR-compliant, including: – Infrastructure as a service (IaaS). Cloud computing services: Managed Kubernetes, cloud S3 Object Storage, SSD Performance Storage, Managed Backup, Cloud Load Balancing, and Database as a Service (DBaaS); and Network Services: Managed NAT Gateway, Managed Network Load Balancer, and DDoS Protect. IONOS Cloud Data Center Designer (DCD) tool for managing Virtual Data Centers (VDC)

KU Leuven’s CiTiP (Centre for IT and IP Law) is a research centre at the Faculty of Law of KU Leuven dedicated to advancing and promoting legal knowledge about the information society through research and teaching of the highest quality in the areas of Data Protection, Privacy and Information Security Law, New Media and Communications Law, Information Rights Management.

Its research is focused on the design of innovative legal engineering and risk management techniques and is characterised by its intra- and interdisciplinary approach, constantly aspiring to cross-fertilisation between legal, technical, economic and socio-cultural perspectives. The centre is among the founding members of the Leuven Centre on Information and Communication Technology (LICT) and imec, a world-leading research and innovation hub in nanoelectronics and digital technologies. With over 85 researchers, CITIP has a solid track as a law and ethics partner of large European research projects.

In DeployEMDS, it will build on and seek to expand the knowledge created on data regulation, governance in data sharing and data spaces projects (horizontal and sectorial focus) (e.g. Pimcity, Musketeer, Kraken, TRUSTS, Safe-DEED, EUH4D, DSSC) and mobility/transport legal expertise (e.g. Concorda, in2Dreams, Mobidatalab and PrepDSpace4Mobility).

Nommon is a technology company specialising in the application of big data and artificial intelligence to the transport and mobility industry. Nommon’s portfolio includes two types of products: (i) origin-destination matrices and other mobility indicators obtained from anonymised mobile network data, smart card data and other geolocation data; and (ii) decision support tools that rely on machine learning and optimisation techniques to forecast demand behaviour and support the planning and operation of transport services and infrastructures. In the past 10 years, Nommon has participated in numerous R&I projects aimed at improving the management of transport systems from a multimodal perspective (BD4PT, TRANSIT, IMHOTEP, PASSPORT, SYNCHROMODE, MAIA).

In deployEMDS, Nommon will contribute to Barcelona’s multimodality Use Case, powering the data space with mobility indicators obtained from anonymised mobile network data and providing decision support tools for the optimisation of new forms of demand-responsive transport.

They also facilitate the dialogue between local and regional authorities and other mobility stakeholders such as industry, research centres and universities, and NGOs.

POLIS fosters cooperation and partnerships across Europe with the aim of making research and innovation in transport accessible to cities and regions. That is why they actively support the participation of our members in European projects. Their expertise allows us to create a framework which facilitates dialogue and exchange between local authorities, the transport research community and the industry.

At POLIS they strive to provide decision makers with the necessary information and tools for making sustainable mobility a reality. Political representatives from POLIS members convene regularly within the POLIS Political Group, and engage in a dialogue with the European institutions.

RISE is Sweden’s research institute and innovation partner. Through their international collaboration programmes with industry, academia and the public sector, it ensures the competitiveness of the Swedish business community on an international level and contribute to a sustainable society. Its almost 3300 employees engage in and support all types of innovation processes. RISE is an independent, state-owned research institute, which offers unique expertise and over 130 testbeds and demonstration environments for future-proof technologies, products and services.

In deployEMDS, RISE is leading a work package on governance, organisational, legal & market structures. RISE is also implementation partner for Stockholm’s Use Case.

Stockholm is the capital of Sweden and the country’s largest municipality with nearly one million inhabitants. The City of Stockholm is constantly developing. The city strives for accessibility for all citizens and to make sure Stockholm is a sustainable, innovative and versatile city.

The city of Stockholm has set ambitious environmental and accessibility goals. Examples of efforts to reach the goals are the introduction of zero emission zone and a reduction of car traffic by 30%. A high degree of digitization and data sharing is required to implement measures and evaluate the effects of the efforts.

In deployEMDS the Transport department and the Environmental and health department are working together in harmonising and sharing mobility and environmental data that will be the foundation for data driven decision making.

Sofia Urban Mobility Centre (SUMC) is responsible for the organisation, management, supervision and financing of the public transport system in Sofia as well as for the short-term paid parking zones in the city. SUMC operates the automatic vehicle location system for public transport vehicles and the public transport ticketing system. SUMC provides real time information for vehicle arrival on all public transport stops in Sofia and provides public transportation journey planner at www.sofiatraffic.bg. SUMC operates Park&Ride facilities at 5 metrostations.

In deployEMDS project, Sofia Urban Mobility Centre will organise and provide dynamic and static data sets related to public transport and parking in Sofia. SUMC will coordinate the data sharing from shared mobility operators.

The City of Tampere is located in the middle of Finland with 250,000 inhabitants. City of Tampere is a local authority responsible for urban development and has a long history and actively developing ITS systems and services. Big infrastructure projects like a new tram system and the Central Deck and Arena are the latest urban scale development projects.

The city offers a great platform to develop and implement new innovations. The goal is to add value to citizens’ everyday life, create new business opportunities for companies and to build a sustainable city together with the ITS Factory network.

The ITS Factory is an active network that has operated in the region for a long time and has supported collaboration between different parties and the creation of new solutions with companies, universities, R&D organisations and public entities. Tampere’s goal is to make the city one of leading smart mobility cities and testing grounds in Europe.

The data marketplace for the mobility sector
The Mobility Data Space (MDS) is a data marketplace where equal partners from the mobility sector can exchange data. The data provider always remains the owner of the data and can autonomously decide whether and with which participant to enter into data exchange. The goal is to create a cross-company data economy to realize and further develop innovative, environmentally, and user-friendly mobility concepts. In doing so, the MDS brings together companies, organizations, and institutions: those that want to monetize their data treasures and those that need data for innovative mobility solutions, but in many cases also to create a win-win situation for mutual benefit through a targeted exchange. For this purpose, the MDS creates the framework for a trusting cooperation.

The MDS is funded by the Federal Ministry of Digital Affairs and Transport (BMDV) and is therefore a neutral and trustworthy partner to pave the way for a networked and secure data infrastructure in Europe that complies with European values such as data protection, data sovereignty and interoperability.

TML is a public company owned by the Lisbon Metropolitan Area (AML), which comprises 18 municipalities, an area of 3.015 km² and a population of around 2.9M inhabitants. TML’s mission is to pursue its own intermunicipal competences and those delegated by 15 out of the 18 municipalities of the AML, in the fields of mobility and transport, having the power of transport authority, concerning the public passenger transport (PT) services.

TML has created and manages a dedicated information platform to the general public, through websites, apps, MaaS platforms, help desks, ticket selling points, and variable message panels, among others.

The Swedish Transport Administration is responsible for the long-term planning of the transport system for road, rail, maritime and air traffic. The Swedish Transport Administration is also responsible for the construction, operation and maintenance of public roads and railways.

In the deployEMDS project, the Swedish Transport Administration will contribute with its expertise in C-ITS, National Access Points (NAPs) and data sharing in the transport domain, primarily in the tasks to implement common governance mechanisms and develop tools for legal compliance.

The Research Centre for Mobility Law is affiliated to the Institute for Legal Studies of the Technical University Braunschweig (TU Braunschweig) and combines all research activities on legal and governance issues arising in the field of mobility. Mobility innovation includes highly contemporary issues such as autonomous public transport, delivery robots or connected and intelligent vehicles and infrastructure. The research in these matters must also take into account the increasing digitisation and amount of data in the mobility sector. The Research Centre for Mobility Law accompanies political developments and evaluates national and international law in numerous joint projects.

In deployEMDS project, the Research Centre for Mobility Law will contribute its legal expertise in the areas of governance and support the project as an ethic and compliance partner.

The urban institute Magyarország Zrt. is a German-Hungarian joint venture founded in December 2015, a member of the Germany-based [ui!] group, which includes software development and consulting companies operating in many parts of the world.

In cooperation with [ui!] municipalities and metropolitan regions, it implements ambitious ‘smart city’ projects, including traffic and parking management, infrastructure development, energy strategy development or mitigating the effects of climate change, in order to make cities even more intelligent. In addition to local governments, its customers and partners include central governments, energy providers and businesses.

The Big Data for Smart Society Institute (GATE) is a purpose-built institute established in 2019 as a structure of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”. It is a joint initiative between Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, Bulgaria and Chalmers University of Technology and Chalmers Industrial Technology, Sweden.

GATE conducts Big Data and AI applied research, develops innovations and provides education in collaboration with government, industry and entrepreneurs. Based on this, it generates well-educated professionals, new business opportunities and societal impact in Bulgaria and Europe. GATE research and innovation are organized into four strategic application areas – Future Cities, Intelligent Government, Smart Industry and Digital Health. The Institute builds sustainable stakeholder relationships, focusing on technological collaboration between government, industry, academia and non-governmental organizations towards Artificial Intelligence and smart decision-making models.

In the deployEMDS project, GATE is a local technology partner for the use case of Sofia City. It brings expertise in combining methods for knowledge processing and hybrid AI for building a federated platform to support intelligent data management. The platform enables the transparent integration of diverse data into Urban Data Space, as part of GATE activities as an International Data Space Association (IDSA) hub and a member of the BDVA Data Spaces Task Force.

The [ui!] GROUP is a synergy of the three divisions:

Sustainable mobility concepts – [ui!] Urban Mobility Innovations (B2M)

and its subsidiaries in Australia, the United Kingdom, Hungary and the USA.

[ui!] is worldwide active and advises municipalities, cities and metropolitan regions in their strategic planning to implement ambitious climate targets, optimize existing and expand with new urban infrastructure, a more sustainable mobility concept and new energy concepts in urban areas. Energy suppliers as well as municipal and private companies are customers and partners when it comes to the implementation and operation of Smart City infrastructures.

Founded with the charter to closely accompany the European innovation partnership “Smart Cities and Communities”, the [ui!] GROUP supports cities, districts and regions worldwide on their way to reach the set climate protection goals with the support of digitalization as well as innovative concepts and solutions.

Climate protection, citizen benefits and economically successful services and solutions are not mutually exclusive, but complement each other to form a sustainable alliance for the future of urban space.

In deployEMDS project, VIANOVA is enthusiast to share its knowledge and expertise in micro mobility and share mobility field. By interconnecting all the different micro mobility player into our platform and service them to the city for their operations, VIANOVA intend to share pivotal dataset relative to the cities. Furthermore, the concept of a mobility data space is something that VIANOVA developed already internally, implemented as data marketplace.

Digitaal Vlaanderen is the government agency responsible for all things digital in the region of Flanders and comprises 665 digital experts. The goal of the agency is to build and facilitate the government of tomorrow.

For that purpose, VLO builds and operates the shared technology layer of the government to make sure that the government’s infrastructure is solid, secure and scalable. On top of that, VLO runs different platform services such as data and front office services that can be plugged into the business processes of the governments, with transformation and change at the centre. With these three layers, VLO wants to evolve from a government doing digital to a government being digital.

In deployEMDS project, Digitaal Vlaanderen will connect its Vlaamse Smart Data Space in the Flemish region to the EMDS. The Use Case on traffic measurements will be linked to other regions. A no/low code interface will support data consumers to re-use different traffic measurement data sources.

VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd is a state owned and controlled non-profit limited liability company established by law and operating under the ownership steering of the Finnish Ministry of Employment and the Economy. VTT is a Research and Technology Organisation whose activities are focused on three areas: Carbon neutral solutions, Sustainable products and materials, and Digital technologies. VTT is impact-driven and takes advantage from its wide multi-technological knowledge base to strengthen Finnish and European industrial competitiveness.

In deployEMDS, VTT will lead the Tampere implementation site and will bring its expertise regarding Data Spaces. VTT is also involved in developing building blocks for the European mobility data space.
